Segway Tour in Bottrop

 

Experience the famous "Halden" in Bottrop - which are impressive man-made pit and slag heaps - in an exciting and fun way! During a guided Segway Tour we will approach both the Halde Haniel and the Halde on Beckstreet which is known for its steel structure in the form of a Tetrahedron on top.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  

 

Tour Halde Tetrahedron

 

The starting point of this Segway Tour is the parking area in Beckstreet where the essential instruction in how to handle the vehicle takes place. Afterwards we start the tour by first riding to the Malakoffturm (Malakoff Tower) of the Prosper II colliery.

 

We then drive along the Bahnstraße which runs in-between the Tetrahedron and the alpincenter until we get to the Gartenstadt Welheim which was once a residential area for miners.

 

On our way back we pass by the Jugendhotel and the restaurant and mill "Mühle Große Kraneburg" saving the best for last: the ascent to the Tetrahedron.

Tour Halde Haniel

 

Before starting this Segway Tour from the parking area of the Haniel mine we first become familiar with the segways and their functioning. We then ride on the old railway lines passing the park cemetery until we get to the Museum Quadrat.

 

By the time we get back to the parking area after having glided effortlessly along the pond of the town park and across the site of the former youth hostel Bischofssondern, everyone will be in control of the segway. That allows us to finally drive up the Halde Haniel. On top there's the summit cross, an amphitheater and the colorful railway sleepers of the artist Ibarolla.
